ECO Takes over Washington D.C.

Some of our awesome ECO members just got back today from Washington D.C. where they were involved in the Keystone XL Protest that happened yesterday. Our Truman students were part of the 12,000 that encircled the White House to show President Obama that numbers aren’t lying and the voice of the people in this environmental matter is strong.

Videos from the protest were taken by sophomore ECO member Keithlee Sprangler and can be found here on her YouTube page: http://www.youtube.com/user/kms3153

Last, but not least, check out the article in the Index from before our ECO-ites headed to D.C.: http://www.trumanindex.com/student-protestors-visit-d-c-1.2681233

Got questions for our student protesters? Comment and we’ll have them do a little Q&A post!

New Year, New Website

Hello everyone!

With the new year came a new website, so bear with me if things appear to be under construction because they are. On that same note, if you have anything that you would like to put on the website, please e-mail me at alj3737@truman.edu!

Be sure to come to ECO on Monday nights and 9 p.m. in Baldwin Hall 146!

What we’re currently working on:

  • Meatless Mondays: ECO and Sodexo are working towards making better vegetarian options for the dining halls on Mondays which will hopefully encourage students to pick the more sustainable choice.
  • Bottle Water Ban: Where to being? We’re working on trying to eliminate the amount of bottled water that’s sold on-campus and encourage students to use reusable bottles instead. We’re also working on implementing refillable water stations around campus.
  • Pig-nic: Next semester’s Local Foods Dinner is going to be an awesome pig roast! Join Chelsea Krueger and Susan Zhu in planning for the awesome event.
  • Earth Week 2012

Enjoy the new site!
